Wine Marlborough is proud to support local community groups with our events, particularly the Marlborough Wine & Food Festival.
Marlborough Wine & Food Festival
Each year we donate around $10,000 to local community groups that volunteer their time at the Festival. Some groups have been doing this for many years, with Lions and Rotary being involved from the beginning!
We also give away a number of tickets to be used as auction items. In 2017 these went to:
Bayleys Marlborough for Make a Wish Foundation, Fairhall School, Marlborough Cancer Society Relay for Life, Rarangi Fire Brigade for Sky Tower Challenge
In 2017, we were happy to support the following volunteer groups:
Blenheim Rotary Club, Blenheim Volunteer Fire Department, Cancer Society, Blenheim Lions, Springlands Sea Scouts, Whitney Street School, Blenheim Playcentre
November 2016 Earthquake
Wine Marlborough, along with support from wine companies in Marlborough, were able to donate wine to the Awatere Rugby Club for them to sell at the Makos vs Wellington rugby game that they hosted in Seddon, as a fundraiser to repair the club rooms that were damaged in the November 2016 earthquake.
We also donated some wine to the Clarence community and Awatere Trust for occasions and meetings.
In 2017, Wine Marlborough ‘filled the back seat’ of the car that was being auctioned for the Mistletoe Trust. This included wine, tickets to the Marlborough Wine and Food Festival and glasses. This was a small part of the $85,000+ raised for underprivileged kids to have the important learning experience of going to Mistletoe Bay Eco Village.
