Wine Marlborough Team

Marcus Pickens

General Manager

Marcus, when not at work is rather obsessed with music, Hi-Fi and high definition audio, cricket, reading, coffee, playing sport with his kids and watching them play sports. In terms of Marlborough wine, he’s drawn to a good glass of chardonnay and is very interested in sub regional vs. regional Sauvignon Blanc wines.

Georgie Leach

Events Manager

She might be from Sydney but don’t let that fool you. Georgie comes from a poultry farming family and the country music capital of Australia. Georgie has an affinity with wine and has backed that up with more than 10 years’ experience in marketing, PR and events within the wine industry.

Harriet Wadworth

Marketing & Communications Manager

Born & bred Marlburian, Harriet joined the Wine Marlborough team after some time spent in Sydney. Harriet loves getting out and about exploring what Marlborough has to offer, whether it be by foot, car or boat. Favourite wine would have to be a Pinot Noir in front of the fire with some amazing local food!

Nicolette loves people and is brilliant at talking to and communicating with those from near and far, making her the perfect person to be our labour coordinator. She also loves Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc!

Finance Administrator

Born and bred here - Jo is very passionate about Marlborough and loves showing off the regions wine, food and the Sounds to her visiting family & friends. While she enjoys all wines, she is most partial to Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

Vance Kerslake

Advocacy Manager

Vance is originally from Wellington where he split his time between central government and the private sector. Vance loves getting into the outdoors with his young kids, supporting West Ham United and dabbling in a spot of home brewing. He enjoys all wines, especially Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Rosé and has a geeky interest in wild fermentation.

Wine Marlborough Board

We put the question to them all on why they are involved as volunteers for their regional association

Managing Director, Framingham Wines

I put my hand up to join the Board because I wanted to see the industry continue to prosper and grow in a sustainable way. It is too easy to sit on the side lines and criticize, much harder to get involved and make a difference and that’s what I am trying to do.

Deputy Chair

Viticulturist, Terra Vitae & Villa Maria Wines

Since 2007 I have been working with both company owned and grower vineyards in the Wairau and Awatere valleys. I see it as crucial that we work together to continually improve our land, our wines and our brand. By working with Marlborough Wine Growers I want to be able to assist in this improvement and recognise the full potential that lies within the region.

Owner, Caythorpe Vineyards Limited

I am fifth generation on the family farm and the wine industry is now a major part of our business. I would like to ensure that future generations can continue to grow and share in the success of the industry that we have today.

Windrush Vineyard

I am really proud of what we produce in Marlborough as a wine industry. In my mind it is vital wine companies and growers are cohesive in our region to ensure we achieve successful outcomes. I am dedicated to representing growers on the Marlborough Winegrowers board the best way possible.

General Manager, Forrest Wines

As a proud second generation family winemaker, I saw an opportunity to be a part of protecting the premium persona of Marlborough wine through the Wine Marlborough board. We are a young but world-leading wine region and if we continue to support the drive, passion and enthusiasm of our members we will be here for many generations to come.

Winery Operations Manager, Wairau River Wines

I am supremely passionate about the Marlborough wine industry. The wines we produce here are world class and we need to ensure we protect and grow this premium reputation. Sustainability and innovation are crucial to our ongoing success, as is the need to identify and develop our future industry leaders.

General Manager NZ, Accolade Wines

Marlborough is a unique place and the wines produced here a world renowned. I believe that a strong, focused, and collective regional energy is essential to further enhancing our reputation as a leading global wine region. I want to be a part of fostering this and in doing so seeing Marlborough thrive locally and shine globally.

Co-Owner, Davinleigh Vineyards

Marlborough’s reputation as an internationally acclaimed wine region is a key driver of visitation to the area. As a destination marketer I believe there is greater potential to further develop high value wine tourism experiences that will both attract visitors and turn them into life-long loyal customers of Marlborough wine.

Director, Tyntesfield

I put my name forward to become more involved in an industry that I am passionate about. I want to be a part of ensuring that Marlborough wine continues to grow and add value to both growers and wineries alike.
